Description

Hibiscus Chile-Lime Salt celebrates the tart, complex flavor of hibiscus flower and pairs it with bright chiles and lime for a delicious natural salt seasoning that will bring any dish to life.

Hibiscus is a flowering shrub native to tropical and sub-tropical regions of the world. It produces beautiful, large trumpet-shaped flowers that, in fact, carry symbolic meaning in many cultural traditions. Yellow hibiscus flowers are the state flower of Hawaii, and they symbolize both beauty and joy. In the Hindu tradition of India, certain rituals ask that people offer red hibiscus flowers to the Goddess Kali and Lord Ganesha. It’s believed that divine energy is emitted from the blooms. In food traditions around the world, hibiscus flowers are also used to make tart herbal teas. In Nigeria and parts of West Africa, hibiscus (also known as ‘bissap’) is enjoyed in a popular fruity beverage called zobodobo, named for the Hausa word for hibiscus. The drink is made from an infusion of hibiscus mixed with pineapple, ginger, and sometimes oranges, watermelon, or other fruit and is usually served cold.

Hibiscus Chile-Lime Salt can be used to season fresh salmon or other grilled fish, and it’s also delicious as a finishing seasoning for salads and dressed greens.
