Ingredients

Mint Yogurt Sauce

  • 1 cup plain Yogurt
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Mint, chopped
  • 1 pinch Salt

Lamb Burgers

  • 1-1/2 lb. lean Ground Lamb
  • 1 small Onion, chopped
  • 3/4 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp. Curious Spoon Baharat Spice Blend
  • 3/4 tsp. Kosher Salt

Burger Assembly

  • 1 large Tomato, cut into 6 slices
  • 1 small Cucumber, sliced
  • 3 tbsp. fresh Cilantro
  • 6 Pita Breads

Notes from the Chef:

Make your own ground lamb for these burgers. If available use a meat grinder and grind to the desired size. This gives you the freedom to choose the cut of lamb and the size. You can even try seasoning the meat before going through the grinder to help better distribute the seasoning throughout.

    Prep all ingredients.

    Mix yogurt, mint, and a pinch of salt to taste. Refrigerate.

    Combine lamb, onion, breadcrumbs, garlic, Curious Spoon Baharat Spice Blend, and kosher salt. Mix thoroughly. Divide into 6 equal portions, and form each into oval patty.

    Preheat gas or charcoal grill to high heat. Grill burgers 4-5 minutes per side, then transfer burgers to plate to rest. Reduce heat to medium-high then place pitas on grill. Let pitas warm and char very slightly.

    Assemble burgers! Slice along top of pita bread to open the pocket and spread insides of pocket with yogurt sauce. Slide tomato slice, a few cucumber slices, and cilantro leaves into pita bread then add lamb patty.
