Piri Piri Chicken Wings

Fire up the grill for a taste of the fiery and vibrant flavors of Portuguese and South African cuisine with our Piri Piri Chicken Wings. Piri Piri is both a chile pepper and a flavor profile brought to Southern Africa by the colonial Portuguese. The Piri Piri sauce evolved into an enormously popular condiment wherever it traveled with Portuguese colonial settlers and indigenous peoples including in Angola, Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau, and beyond.

Our Piri Piri chicken wings recipe features the Piri Piri Seasoning, a delicious dry form of the widely-celebrated sauce with spicy, zesty, and bright flavors crafted through a versatile combination of hot chiles, bell pepper, tomato, aromatics, and lemon peel. These grilled chicken wings make for a delicious and easy-to-prepare lunch, dinner, or appetizer or fun and unique tailgate munchies for all your friends and family to enjoy.

Directions:
  1. 1

    Heat grill to medium-high temperature.

  2. 2

Place chicken wings in large bowl and toss thoroughly with 1 tbsp. Curious Spoon Piri Piri Seasoning. Place the chicken wings on the grill an inch apart to prevent flare-ups.

  3. 3

Grill wings, turning occasionally so each side chars. If the chicken sticks leave it on the grill. When the skins are charred, they will lift off easily. Cover the grill between turning wings. Grill approximately 25 minutes until chicken is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 165° F in the thick part of the wing.

  4. 4

Mix butter and vinegar with remaining 1 tbsp. Curious Spoon Piri Piri Seasoning. Toss cooked wings in the bowl with the Piri Piri butter until butter is melted and chicken wings are coated.

  5. 5

    Garnish with cilantro and serve.
