Tandoori Chicken

Fire up the grill and get ready for a taste of a widely celebrated dish with a popular flavor profile in Indian cuisine with our Tandoori Chicken. Tandoori is a beloved cooking style in India that is also utilized all throughout Central Asia. Allegedly originating in Persia, tandoori consists of preparing a meal in a tandoor cylindrical clay oven over a charcoal fire. The oven is buried in the ground up to its rim, allowing for it to reach optimal temperature and the meat to grill quickly and at a very high heat.

Our tandoori chicken recipe features the Tandoori Spice Blend, a sweet and spicy combination of cayenne pepper, warm spices, savory garlic, and citrusy lemon peel. This traditional Indian dish has a delicious authentic flavor and makes for the perfect filling lunch or dinner, especially when served alongside classic Indian side foods such as naan or rice.

Notes from the Chef:

Traditional Tandoori Chicken is made in a tandoori oven called a tandoor or tannour. Set up your charcoal grill with one side of the grill filled with hot coals for direct heat and the other side for indirect heat. This will help get the chicken nicely grilled on the direct side before moving over to the indirect side.

Make it a meal:
Serve with a rice pilaf and naan.
Pairs well with:
Pair well with an earthy smoky Pinot Noir.
